Re: mobile antenna?
ive got a sirio 3000 and it works a treat, one thing i will say is that everytime i use a magmount and a burner i get RF feedback on SSB, and have found that fixing antennas more permanent stops the RF feedback. I use a Moonraker SC 5000 on a gutter mount which(touch wood)gives no RF feedback, trouble is its not a very bendy antenna. whatever antenna you choose i would say fix it solid.

i'm not 100% sure but i think they can be bolted straight on, mag mounted or boot mounted

Re: mobile antenna?
a pl plug type i.e the female end is on the anntenna, mines through the body mount and comes as a kit inc,a weather cap for when you take it off.
the base is at 7ft 7 high on the van and the whip didnt snap, didnt even kink when when i went under 8 ft fixed barrier at homebase lol.had a 1000 years back and is same fitting and slighly cheaper today.this too was brilliant.cant comment on sirios firsthand but have seen a few posts on them having a component failure at the base, think the earth connection comes loose, check it out at cbradioinireland forum page.not trying to sway you at all mate but you honestly wont go wrong with either wilson.the 5000 takes more power but its mad power like 20000 watts so this really is irellavant if youve got even a rmkl500,i went for it cause thats how i am,i did loads of reading and proved to myself that non of wilsons claims were bullshit.the 5000 has a girth like a can of beans! they really are the dogs nacks.

Re: mobile antenna?
hi, i have a sirio 4000 with a permanent mount through the center of the roof of my pickup, works great with dx into europe this summer no probs, bent it big time in a multi story in brugge earlier but stil works great, did have a job to swr though, had to cut quite a bit off, but i seem to be the only one who had that problem as at the time i asked if that was normall and people said that they never had to do such a thing.
ps works better than all my mates springers ect when running a "straight" uk 40 rig so yes buy one!! sorry for ramble, just returned from the pube, i mean pub!

Re: mobile antenna?
I use a 4000 for mobile 11M use , but with conditions being the way they are not really had much chance to test it
SWR no prob though even done me for 10M and still below 2.1
not recommended to drive with on top if going under trees like I did yesterday tho
No lasting damage just twanged a few times
Cheers
