Well Done Indeed Dave, Thats the trouble with these newer rigs, SMC's and minuscule caps etc!!!

Thats why I'm not touching my 857 for the wideband mod until warranty runs out. ( should have asked shop to do it before shipping but too excited that I could actually afford to buy it in the first place)

Nice bit of soldering to the ends of the SM device there! Well done!

My only criticism would be the use of the tantalum capacitor - apparently they are extremely unreliable and fail if they get the slightest sniff of reverse voltage. I'd have used a conventional electrolytic myself as small values are almost as small, but hopefully you won't get a problem.

You did observe correct polarity, didn't you??! emoticon
