Re: Magnum 257(Albrecht AE 485)
Ive had my Magnum 257 (blue display) for a couple of months now. I read a great deal before tading in my 2mtr radio for it (long story) and understood the build quality issues. I brought mine as a 'new' radio, boxed and complete from a good trader.
I went for the 257 because it's small enough to fit in my car.
First off the SSB power was VERY low. So low it would not drive my amp. Took radio back and explained and a 'tweek' was done inside the radio but it was still not perfect. A further chat and visit and yet another small tweek and now all is well.
Audio reports have always been good and after a few contacts outside the UK I started to warm to the radio.
So all in all I now love my 257. Would like the display to show frequency and channel readout at the same time like the Dragon SS-485 but thats me. Other than that its a keeper I think.
