G5RV inverted V

I am think of putting up an external G5RV,
does it make any difference which direction they run, ie east to west? must make a difference i guess, but not sure how much.

It doesn't matter, as an inverted 'V' is pretty much omni-directional, unlike when fully opened up to a dipole.

Ideally you'd have the arms at about 90 degrees to each other as this brings the feedpoint down to about 50 ohms, ideal for co-ax.

If you are installing it as a dipole then direction does matter - maximum radiation is off the wide sides, and hardly anything comes off the ends.

Probably wont make sooo much difference if the angle is correct. But, if like me the angle is not so hot (more of a squashed inverted V) then North South will be best emoticon

Yep - true enough, the 90 degrees is apparently the optimum, but nearness to the ground is another factor. Having that angle forces the antenna to be omni-directional, and mixed polarity, which can be useful.

Back around 1980 I rigged up a centre-fed dipole about 6 feet above the ground for 11m, and that matched 1:1 - obviously the proximity of the ground reduced the impedance to 50 ohms-ish.
